Four Blazers performed at Carnegie Hall, New York, with National Festival Orchestra and members of the Montgomery County Youth Orchestra (MCYO) January 17-21.

Senior Rahul Satija and junior Lisa Kim claimed second and third seats in the first violin section. Senior Tiffany Lin took sixth seat in the viola section, and junior Kristin Hoven was second french horn.

The National Festival Orchestra is an orchestra comprised of people from around the country. Musicians had to audition to enter into the orchestra, but members of MCYO who had been invited only needed to audition for a seat and not for entry.

The Blazers left for New York Thursday morning with twenty two other MCYO members plus conductor Olivia Gutoff. They auditioned for their seats when they arrived in New York.

They spent the first few days rehearsing with the orchestra and touring the city. The culminating performance was Sunday afternoon in Carnagie Hall of the full New World Symphony, by Antonin Dvorak.

Lin and Hoven returned early to study for exams while Kim and Satija remained in New York for an extra night.

"It was a great experience. I would definitely want to do it again," said Kim.

MCYO will be performing at Carnegie Hall June 2.
