After school activities canceled to investigate leak

Students and faculty were evacuated from Quince Orchard High School at 7:15 a.m. this morning after a suspected gas leak on the third floor of the building, according to a letter by Quince Orchard Principal Carole Working. The school was reopened at around 10 a.m. after clearance by the Montgomery County Fire Department and Washington Gas and Electric Company officials.After school activities were canceled so the gas could be turned back on and the gas company could investigate for an actual leak, MCPS spokesman Dana Tofig told the Washington Post.
Following the school's reopening, classes resumed on a regular bell schedule. No injuries were reported.
