NFL - Week 10 predictions

One down, the rest to go

Brady Quinn made his NFL debut on Thursday night against the Broncos and he did not disappoint. Unfortunately, the unsure hands of Kellen Winslow (and other factors) cost the Browns the game. All three of our experts picked correctly, giving them a 1-0 record in week 10 action so far.

So with that early dose of football action to get fans through the long school week, let's move into the rest of the week's games. A matchup in the NFC East pits the Eagles against the Gaints with second place hanging in the balance for Philly. Not too many interesting matchups this week and with the Cowboys on a bye week there is no drama to speak of.

New Orleans Saints (4-4) at Atlanta Falcons (5-3)

Anshul Kevin Sean
Atlanta New Orleans Atlanta

Anshul says:
Rookie quarterback Matt Ryan is turning heads in Atlanta as what should have been a rebuilding season for the Falcons is turning into a possible playoff berth. The Saints have the best pass offense in the game but their running game is lacking. I'm never a fan of one-sided offenses, and that is what stopping the Saints from returning to their dominant form of two seasons ago.

Kevin says:
The Saints have a fundamentally better team with Drew Brees and Reggie Bush. I give props to Matt Ryan, but he needs experience to stay consistent.

Sean says:
Matt Ryan threw a touchdown on his first play in the NFL. The man has talent and a home field advantage. This game goes to the Falcons.

Tennessee Titans (8-0) at Chicago Bears (5-3)

Anshul Kevin Sean
Tennessee Tennessee Tennessee

Anshul says:
I hear sexy Rexy is coming back and that can only mean one thing. Interceptions! Fumbled snaps! Bad handoffs! Well, I guess that's several things. Oh, how I've missed you, Grossman.

Kevin says:
The Titans are going to be this year's Patriots (including the Super Bowl loss to the NFC wild card team - the Redskins).

Sean says:
The Titans are going to be this year's Patriots and the Redskins are going to be last year's Redskins.

Jacksonville Jaguars (3-5) at Detroit Lions (0-8)

Anshul Kevin Sean
Jacksonville Jacksonville Jacksonville

Anshul says:
Cincinnati got a win - why can't Detroit? This is a good chance for them to pick up a win, as the Jags have been slumping all season, but I don't see it happening.

Kevin says:
Can the Lions step it up and get any better than it is? Probably not this week. The Jaguars are also in desperate need of a win.

Sean says:
What a sad game. The hapless Lions searching far and wide for a win and Jacksonville will steal one right under their noses.

Baltimore Ravens (5-3) at Houston Texans (3-5)

Anshul Kevin Sean
Baltimore Houston Houston

Anshul says:
The Ravens are fighting to stay near the top of the AFC North, being only one game back of the Steelers. They need every win they can get.

Kevin says:
The Ravens aren't bad this year, but the Texans aren't either. After seasons of hard times, both teams will need to prove that they're worth something. This should be an interesting game; I think the Texans will take it at home.

Sean says:
Stunningly, I have found two teams of equal caliber that I dislike with equal intensity. Oh, but Houston has the geographic advantage, (Texas pwns Baltimore). Sorry Baltimore.

Seattle Seahawks (2-6) at Miami Dolphins (4-4)

AnshulKevin Sean
Miami Miami Miami

Anshul says:
Okay, so I've underestimated Miami. Every time I count them out they pull off big wins. You have my support, Miami.

Kevin says:
The Dolphins aren't as bad as they were predicted to be. Plus, they're doing significantly better than they did last year. The Seahawks are on the flipside. No question about it here.

Sean says:
Can you see why kids love Cinnamon Toast Crunch? Neither can I. Can you see why the Seahawks are doing badly? I think they're missing something that rhymes with born. Corn? Worn? Torn?

Green Bay Packers (4-4) at Minnesota Vikings (4-4)

AnshulKevin Sean
Green BayMinnesota Green Bay

Anshul says:
This is a tough division game to call. Both teams are fighting to challenge the Bears for the division crown, and this is a must-win game for both teams. Gus Frerotte has proven to be a solid starting QB, but I think A-Rodg has the ability to force him to play from behind. I'm a bit of a Packers fan so I'm going to give them this road win.

Kevin says:
The Vikings have a balanced game. The Packers have a stronger interest in passing. This will be a pretty interesting divisional game. I'm pretty sure the home crowd will help push the Vikings over the Packers.

Sean says:
Quite possibly the fiercest and most interesting game this week. Minnesota's rookie QB is good but a tad wet behind the ears. I see a last minute play in the Packers' near future.

Buffalo Bills (5-3) at New England Patriots (5-3)

AnshulKevin Sean
New England Buffalo Buffalo

Anshul says:
The AFC East is one of the tightest divisions in the league right now with three teams tied for the top spot. The Bills have been slowly declining after a hot start while the Patriots have been solid all season long.

Kevin says:
I'm going to go ahead and pick the upset. Let's face it - the Patriots aren't hot without Tom Brady. They lost to the Colts last Sunday because they had to kick field goals three times. The Bills have a better team, even though they're playing away.

Sean says:
The Patriots - change their mind - like a girl - changes clothes - and their morale - like a - never mind. I have no faith in the new and downgraded Patriots.

St. Louis Rams (2-6) at New York Jets (5-3)

AnshulKevin Sean
New York New York New York

Anshul says:
Looks like another year of disappointment for the Rams.

Kevin says:
The Rams can't beat the teams they're supposed to beat. The Rams can upset the teams they should never beat. And the Jets have Brett Favre.

Sean says:
Cheer up, St. Louis - this was not a year of disappointment, lest we forget what happened at FedEx Field.

Carolina Panthers (6-2) at Oakland Raiders (2-6)

AnshulKevin Sean
Carolina Carolina Carolina

Anshul says:
Maybe Al Davis is starting to realize that Lane Kiffen wasn't the problem in Oakland.

Kevin says:
The Raiders are terrible - shut out by the Falcons? That's almost as pathetic as McCain's pick of Palin.

Sean says:
The Raiders have abused my sympathy for the last time.

Indianapolis Colts (4-4) at Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2)

AnshulKevin Sean
Pittsburgh Pittsburgh Pittsburgh

Anshul says:
The Steelers are my pick to compete with the Titans for the AFC crown. While the Colts are dangerous and could get a playoff berth, the Steeler defense paired with a dynamic offense is too much for Indy to handle.

Kevin says:
The Colts are underestimated. However, I'll give the Steelers props for breaking down the Redskins on Monday. But it's all for the better of the country, as the Redskins predict the winner of the election better than Ohio or Missouri any day.

Sean says:
Perhaps the Redskins should just stick to predictions, because winning games at home or even games in general seem to be their weakness. The Steelers have almost been beaten by several worthy and unworthy teams, but over and over again, the Steelers have proven that they are not to be trifled with.

Kansas City Chiefs (1-7) at San Diego Chargers (3-5)

AnshulKevin Sean
San Diego San Diego San Diego

Anshul says:
Tyler Thigpen can do it all. He can throw and catch. Unfortunately he can't do both at the same time.

Kevin says:
This might be interesting because these teams are well suited to play against each other - they both pale in comparison to the rest of the league. L.T. has been totally stopped all year. The Chiefs have one measly win that they could have easily not gotten. It should be a close game in the Chargers' favor.

Sean says:
Nothing short of a Shogunite can stop LT. Chiefdoms will not cut it. Haha, I made a pun.

New York Giants (7-1) at Philadelphia Eagles (5-3)

AnshulKevin Sean
New YorkNew York Philadelphia

Anshul says:
The Giants are the powerhouse of the NFC. Unless they suffer some key injuries, the Giants look like they have the NFC East crown locked.

Kevin says:
Someone needs to bring down these Giants. The Eagles can, but won't. I see a late field goal deciding this one.

Sean says:
After the Giants destroyed Dallas last week, I've got a hankering for revenge despite what the crystal ball tells me. Let's go, Eagles.

Monday November 10, 2008

San Francisco 49ers (2-6) at Arizona Cardinals (5-3)

AnshulKevin Sean
ArizonaArizona Arizona

Anshul says:
Who picked this game for Monday night?

Kevin says:
The Cardinals finally have an uninjured quarterback, and look what happens! This team will go far.

Sean says:
Yet another inconsequential game - the Cardinals are clearly better.
