New "Give a Blazer a Hug" Day established at Blair

The self-identified Blair "Spirit Lady", Ms. Susan Payne-Madden, has established a new spirit institution at Blair, the "Give a Blazer a Hug" day, based on the achievement of Blair's 2001 fall sports teams.

Payne-Madden said that the idea for the "Give a Blazer a Hug" day stemmed from a parent two years who said that since the football team had such a bad season, other Blair students should hug members of the football team.

In light of the success of Blair's fall sports teams this year, Payne-Madden decided to reverse the idea and say that Blazers should hug members of fall sports teams because of their athletic excellence. "Give a Blazer a Hug day is a congratulatory day for all our sports teams, because we've had a really awesome fall sports season. I think that's definitely something to brag about."

For "Give a Blazer a Hug" day, members of Blair sports teams were informed to wear their uniforms. Captains of the sports teams met in the media center to appear on Info Flow and represent each team's success.

Payne-Madden hopes to continue the day for future sports seasons this year, based on the day's success.
