Many Blair students have been chosen for the Maryland Distinguished Scholar award this year. The Maryland Higher Education Commission considers students for the award in the spring and notifies them individually over the summer, but the high schools find out in the fall, Resource counselor Karen Hunt said. The award is given in both the categories of academics and fine arts. Finalists receive a scholarship of three-thousand dollars to any Maryland college and semi-finalists are placed on an alternate list.
