Girls' soccer falls to Churchill 2-0, record is now 3-5

Blair was able to hold down the undefeated Churchill Bulldogs, however, a one minute break down cost Blair the game, falling to Churchill 2-0, and dropping to a 3-5 record.

Although the score of the game reflects a loss, Blair played Churchill evenly throughout the game. A large amount of contribution came from the younger part of the team. Sophomore goalie Erika Pelz-Butler defended her goal beautifully, preventing several shots from getting by her. Even after getting injured off of a play, Pelz-Butler was determined to keep up her intensity and keep her team in the game.

Sophomore Julia Gabriel also did some damage to Churchill. She executed good passes and was a key player in getting the ball up the field. "She really provided a big spark to the offense," said Head Coach Bob Gibb.

The game started out at an even pace, only to pick up more intensity as the clock ran down. In the first half, Blazers attempted many shots but none managed to get into the net.

Second half was the same story; Blazers just could not get their shot off. Up until 16 minutes left in the game the score was 0-0 and then Churchill scored the first goal, only to score the second one within the next minute. Blair kept up their aggression and tried to fight back, but came out on the bottom for their fifth loss of the season.

With their record slowly falling, Blazers are keeping their spirit up and are now preparing for their next opponents. "If we're not up for Springbrook they'll bite us," said Gibb.
