Blazers shutout Sherwood

OCT. 21, BLAZER STADIUM-

The JV boys' soccer team continued its winning streak and shut out its tenth opponent of the season. Today, Blair beat Sherwood 2-0, and Blair's season record improved to 10-0. The team won its 20th straight game dating back to last year. Sophomore forward Yendoukoa Lamboni anchored the offense with both goals.

Lamboni and the rest of the Blair team continued to produce offensively in a game against one of the toughest opponents in Blair's division. Lamboni's goals came in the 11th and 40th minute of the game. Other players, such as freshman forward Prince Momo, had scoring opportunities, but many of the shot attempts were inaccurate.

Sophomore midfielder Phillip Allen commented after the game, "Lamboni has been one of the most athletic players I have ever played with. Lamboni and Momo both have the ability to trap the ball quickly and take an excellent shot." Both of these players took advantage of the undersized Sherwood defense, which became tired in the second half.

Allen spoke well of the overall play of the game and said, "We thought this was definitely one of quickest teams we have faced, but in the second half we dominated even though we only scored one goal." The commanding offense produced few turnovers, leading to an easy game for Blair's defense. Sophomore Ethan Kuhnhenn and freshman Noel Aguirre anchored the defense, which allowed fewer than ten shots on their own goal.

Sophomore forward Nick Mozer commented on the overall play of the team, and said, "Even though there were bad conditions today, we played extremely well. We got a comfortable lead and our defense was able to secure the game for us."

The JV boys' soccer team will have its last game away at Winston Churchill on Oct. 21 at 5:30 p.m.
