This year, Blair is introducing the Innovator of the Month Award. This award is granted to teachers and staff who demonstrate commitment to teaching outside of the classroom and improving their craft.

When Principal Renay Johnson came to Blair, she created the initiative to increase morale among staff members. "Ms. Johnson has always celebrated the teachers and staff members of the month," according to Assistant Principal Brandi Richardson. The name of the award was changed to fit this year's theme, "Leading the Way in Innovation and Excellence." Between 30 to 50 people have been recognized this month. Nominated teachers can expect to receive a plaque throughout this week.

Students, parents and other community members can now nominate teachers and staff through Google Forms. "We usually keep the form open for a few days," Richardson said. "Then about two weeks after the month has closed, the nominations for the previous month are honored."

For more information, check Johnson's tweets or contact Richardson by email or see her in room 240.
