The Blazers improve their record to 5-2 in a blowout win over the Trojans

The Blair Blazers (5-2) defeated the Gaithersburg Trojans (1-1) 10-1 in a blowout on Sept. 20. The Blazers put up an impressive display of offensive strength in the first half. Sophomore Marlee Ginyard scored off of a cross by senior captain Noa Dorah while Dorah had a nice shot of her own into the lower left corner to give Blair a 2-0 lead. Goals by juniors Emilie Vigliotta and Sophia Kim, a free kick by senior Bianca Martinez-Penn that Gaithersburg’s goalie dropped and another goal by senior captain Janie Pitner left the Blazers leading 6-0 at the end of the first half. Blair kept their momentum going through the start of the second half. Ginyard tapped the ball in behind the goalie for her second goal of the game. Gaithersburg rallied to score their first goal on a free kick. Blair responded with a goal by junior Nieve Barry, assisted by freshman Magda Goles, and another goal by Kim. Junior Seren Sarkozy-Banocsy brought Blair to 10 with a goal from deep that went over the Trojan goalie’s head. Blair ended up on top with a score of 10-1. Kim thought that it was one of the best games the Blazers have played this season. "We connected passes well and we had good combinations," she said.
