Montgomery Blair High School entered a shelter-in-place at 10:54 a.m. today after twelve teachers received an email bomb threat at 10:40 a.m. This is the third such threat to Blair in the past two weeks.
Students and staff evacuated to Blair's three athletic fields starting with the first floor at 11:28 a.m., 11:37 a.m., and 11:40 a.m. respectively. Law enforcement completed the building sweep at 12:42 p.m. and students returned to lunch. Lunch continued until 1:20 p.m. until seventh period began at 1:26 p.m.
At 2:48 p.m., Principal Renay Johnson sent a letter to the Blair community, assuring that the safety of students remains Blair's utmost priority. "We understand that events like these can be concerning to our school community, and I want to assure you that we have taken appropriate measures to address the situation promptly and efficiently," Johnson said in her letter.
Rockville High School also received a bomb threat today. It is unclear if the two threats are linked.
