On Tues., Feb. 13, Blair Cluster director Sean McGee hosted a community Zoom meeting with Blair parents outlining the extensive selection process for a new Blair principal.

Interview panels will consist of five to six parents, five to six staff members, four to five students and four to five central office staff. McGee emphasized the importance of the interview panel matching the demographics of the school community. To that end, McGee opened a survey for students, families, and staff to identify their top 4 priorities in a principal.

McGee described potential candidates that would include principal interns, current principals, and assistant principals within and outside of MCPS. Once two to three candidates are invited for a finalist meeting with newly appointed Interim Superintendent Dr. Monique Felder and other MCPS Leadership staff, a recommendation is made to the Board.

Afterwards, the Board votes on the recommendation made and informal meet and greets get arranged with school and PTA members. Towards the end, McGee explained the support and guidance the upcoming principal will receive and finished the meeting answering questions.
