Winter's Bone (R) – Jennifer Lawrence ("The Burning Plain") stars as Missouri teenager Ree Dolly, who's forced to trek through the Ozarks and find her long-absent father within a week or lose her home. You can expect country-folk music, sparse scenes in the woods and gritty suspense galore. The film won the coveted Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival this year. (June 11)

Marmaduke (PG) – Based on the Brad Anderson comic strip of a Great Dane and his family, "Marmaduke" features the voices of Owen Wilson, George Lopez and Fergie all as dogs and cats. The Tom Dey-directed live-action flick, which follows the Winslow family as it moves to California, raises a number of intriguing questions: Can Fergie seriously make something worse than "Nine"? And why, after the calamity that was "Beverly Hills Chihuahua," why would anybody want talking dogs in theaters again? (June 4)

Shutter Island (R) – Fans of "The Departed" or "The Aviator," rejoice: Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio team up for the fourth time in a mystery-thriller that opened to mixed reviews in February. DiCaprio stars as Teddy Daniels, a U.S. Marshal who is investigating mysterious disappearances and happenings at an island mental hospital circa 1954. Mark Ruffalo, Ben Kingsley and Michelle Williams co-star in the mind-bending adaptation of Dennis Lehane's novel.

Mary and Max (PG) – Ever wondered how "Wallace and Gromit" might look in, say, Australia? Look no further: "Mary and Max" is a claymation stopmotion movie from the down-under writer-director Adam Elliot. The film, based on Elliot's life, follows an unlikely pen-pal friendship between an 8-year-old Australian girl and a 44-year-old man with Asperger syndrome from New York. Elliott uses black-and-white film and contrasting themes of darkness and levity to create an animated film that is not just for kids.
