After Prom fundraiser to be held tomorrow at Jerry's in Four Corners

Blair's After Prom Committee is holding a fundraiser with Jerry's Subs and Pizza in Four Corners tomorrow, March 20. Jerry's manager John Distler will donate 15 percent of the sales made between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. to help with After Prom funding.

Each year, the PTSA organizes After Prom as a safe alternative to student-organized parties which may offer drugs and alcohol. Last year, After Prom featured caricature artists, food, music, karaoke and other forms of entertainment. Juniors and seniors are invited to come after the dance even without attending prom.

Distler estimates that Blair will get about $150 - $300 tomorrow. Jerry's in Four Corners has helped in previous years with After Prom by selling food at a discount and giving out door prizes, according to Distler. "I'm more than glad to do the fundraiser for the school," he said.

Blair parent Donna Beausoleil organized the fundraiser and also expects Blair to make at least a few hundred dollars. "After Prom takes so much money to put on and I know that every little bit helps," she said. The planning for the fundraiser has been going on for about six weeks now. But she also sees the fundraiser as a social occasion. "I am looking forward to the event because it's a great way to see other people from Blair," she said.

Beausoleil has done fundraisers with Jerry's in Four Corners before, when her children were in elementary school and has known Distler for years. "John Distler has always been supportive of the local schools," she said. Jerry's offers fundraising opportunities for all schools, churches and charity organizations, according to Distler.

"We post signs up in advance [for the fundraiser]," Distler said, to encourage not only Blair students and faculty members, but also the general public to come and support the fundraiser. The Blair PTSA also invites everyone to come and help raise funds for the school's 2007 After Prom party.

The After Prom Committee also encourages students and parents to volunteer at the fundraiser. If interested, you may e-mail Blair parent Donna Beausoleil and go to Jerry's anytime between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on March 20.
