Recap of this week's indoor soccer league matches, as teams try to secure spots in the playoffs

On Thursday, Oct. 19, six teams participated in their final regular season games of the 2023 Blair Indoor Soccer League. Teams fought to secure their spots in the playoffs, resulting in three exciting and eventful matches.

The first matchup of the day was between Teams 5 and 6. Right off the bat, Team 5 showed no mercy, with strong defense and a great save, followed by a goal thirty seconds into the match. For the next five minutes, both teams fought to gain full possession, making plays that resulted in all players scrambling for the ball. The match was physical, and both teams struggled to score goals, resulting in many powerful shots that ultimately were unsuccessful. With five minutes left on the clock, Team 6 equalized the score, setting it 1-1. The team maintained possession, scoring two more goals, 3-1. Team 5, hoping to make a comeback scored one last goal, but as the time ticked down, they were unable to tie up. The game ended 3-2.

Team 1 and Team 3 stepped up to play next. For the first few minutes of the game, Team 1 dominated, with great passing, amazing chemistry, and an early goal. Even so, not a force to be reckoned with, Team 3 responded with their own goal. The game kept up with Team 3 in possession of the ball, while Team 1 continued to turn over the ball repeatedly. Team 3 continued to keep up the good work for the majority of the game, and scored two more goals bringing the score 3-1. Frustrated, Team 1 did all they could to contend against their opposers, and began to use more physical and aggressive play techniques. This ultimately was to their disadvantage, as Team 3 made a successful penalty shot on goal, concluding the game with a final score of 4-1.

The final match of the day was between Teams 2 and 4. From the start, Team 2 shined with great teamwork and passing between one another. Both teams played more defensively compared to the other games of the day, but still focused a lot of their energy on shooting on goal and passing forward. The teams pushed toward each other's goal with power, but not a whole lot of accuracy. Three minutes into the match, team 4 ricocheted the ball off the goalpost, into the goal, scoring the first goal of the game. Over the course of the next few minutes, both teams went back and forth, shooting at each other's goals, and the goalkeepers got to work, preventing any shots from sliding through. With three minutes left in the game, team 2 was eventually about to equalize the score, 1-1. Seconds later, they followed it up with two final goals, settling the final score to 3-1.

Tune in for the next Silver Chips Online exclusive recap on Tuesday, October 24th: Team 7 vs Team 9, Team 10 vs Team 9, Team 11 vs Team 12.
