A Lively performance

Engaging high students is one of a teacher's greatest challenges. Robin Lively, the latest addition to the Blair math department, uses acrobatics as way to motivate her class and foster good study habits in and out of school. If all of her students receive a least C on a major assignment, Lively performs a cartwheel as a reward for the class' hard work.


Cheering for a win

From the summer before the season through Nov. 13, the day before their competition, the cheer team practices every day, growing as a team and as individual athletes. This year they finished on top, winning first place in Division Two for the first time since 2007, and the Spirit Award for the 11th year in a row.

Two Blair educators awarded NBPTS certification

This brings the total number of Board-certified teachers in MCPS to 672, the most of any school district in Maryland and eighth among districts nationally for the year. Two of the teachers certified this past year are from Blair, math teacher Diane Norris and English teacher Sarah Fillman.


Cheerleaders place first at Panther Cheer Competition

On Jan. 26, the Blair cheerleaders placed first at the Panther Cheer Competition at Paint Branch High School in Silver Spring, Md. The team out-cheered second-place Paint Branch by 36 points. The judges also awarded Blair the spirit award and the captain's award to senior Rachel Robey.


Cheerleaders win spirit award for eighth year in a row

On Saturday, the Blair cheer team competed against seven other teams in the Montgomery County Division II cheerleading competition, which took place at Blair, and took home the spirit award for the eighth year in a row.
