After beating the Sherwood Warriors (7-7) in the regular season, the Blair Blazers (10-5-1) girls soccer team came out firing early and put two shots past the goalkeeper in their third round playoff victory.


Blair's practice fields don't get the ball rolling

Blair's practice fields are large, strangely shaped patches of dirt surrounded by weed-filled grass. Rocks are in almost all of the dirt patches, making the fields seem like a gravel road. When there is a dry stretch, dust is commonly kicked up as players run through.

The Blair Blazers (6-6) lost at home to the Richard Montgomery Rockets (5-3) by a score of 3-0. The Blazers were unable to get their offense going, managing only a handful of shots on goal throughout the game.

On the first night of soccer season, the girls' varsity soccer team (0-1) lost a closely contested season opener against Bethesda-Chevy Chase (3-0), who won 1-0. The Blazers showed their strong defensive skills from the very beginning of the game.

Girls' soccer dominates Springbrook 8-0 on senior night

The Blair girls' varsity soccer team (6-6) triumphed over the Springbrook Blue Devils (0-10) in an 8-0 resounding win. The game ended 12 minutes early after a Springbrook player hit her head and had to be carried off in a stretcher.

The Blair girls' varsity soccer team (5-6) defeated the Sherwood Warriors (5-3-1) with a 1-0 victory in their third game of the division championships. The game, played in the pouring rain, was an aggressive battle not dominated by either team.

The Walter Johnson Wildcats narrowly defeated the girls' varsity soccer team (2-5) in a 2-1 game. Though the Blazers presented a strong defense and made several offensive strikes, they were unable to fight off the domineering Wildcats.

Girls' soccer dominates Kennedy in 4-0 shutout

Blair varsity girls' soccer (2-2) defeated the Kennedy Lady Cavaliers through a mixture of offensive strikes and solid defense. The lady blazers had difficulty getting started, however, and frequently missed chances to score, finally netting two goals at the end of the first half and managing to finish strong with two more goals in the second half.

Girls' varsity soccer (0-2) lost to the Quince Orchard Cougars (1-0) in a 1-0 shutout. The game was reminiscent of last year when Quince Orchard defeated Blair in the quarterfinals of the playoffs.
