The Blazers swept the Jaguars 3-0 in an intense matchup
The Blazers gather in a huddle prior to their victory over Northwest.
The Northwest Jaguars (7-5) beat the girls' varsity lacrosse team (8-4) with a final score of 20-11. Blair took the game slowly in the first half with Northwest scoring first, after a strong offensive attack in the first minute of the game.
The Blair softball team (12-1) shut out the Northwest Jaguars (7-5), scoring eight runs in the process as the Jaguars struggled to get on base. With senior co-captain and pitcher Samantha Schweickhardt dominating the mound, Blair clinched the win thanks to consistent hitting and clever base running. While the Jaguars slammed a couple impressive hits into the outfield, Blair's cohesive fielding and communication helped grab a fourth straight win of their near-perfect season.
Already behind by the bottom of the first, Blair was never able to complete a comeback against a tough Northwest pitching staff. The Blazers' rally in the sixth inning fell short as the varsity baseball team (5-7) lost to the Northwest Jaguars (9-3) by a score of 7-3. The loss snapped a two-game win streak, which included a 7-0 victory over a seven-win Paint Branch team.
The boys' varsity volleyball team (4-1) won its third home game against the Northwest Jaguars (0-3) with final scores of 25-11, 25-11 and 25-12. Despite struggling with their passing and losing focus, especially during the last two sets, the Blazers were able to completely destroy Northwest with their aggressive and clever playing. Since the Jaguars arrived to the court later than expected, prior to the game, junior co-captain, Ricci Huang was extremely confident going into the game. "We're all feeling confident because of the extra practice we get until they arrive, plus they're not the best of teams so we're definitely aiming for a clean win," he said.
