New MCPS math curriculum sparks concern

Earlier this school year, Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) introduced Curriculum 2.0 to all elementary schools, generating both approval and concern among parents and teachers around the county. Recently, a petition against this new curriculum surpassed 1000 signatures and was brought to the Board of Education on Dec. 11.


Blair summer program offers more classes

The Blair Summer Math and Reading Team (B_SMaRT) summer program will take place at Blair from June 18 through Aug. 10. The program gives students the opportunity to earn up to 1.5 credits in predetermined Math, English or High School Assessment Prep courses.

On March 14, in honor of Pi Day, Superintendent Joshua Starr tweeted a link to math teacher Jacob Scott's music video "Triangle Experts," raising the number of views of the video to nearly 7,000. Scott has gained countywide acclaim for pioneering a new genre of music: math rapping.
