Blazers turn the tables on Titans

Blair's boys' varsity basketball team (2-3) defeated the Einstein Titans on Friday night in a nail-biting game that ended in a one-point victory, 39-38. With five minutes left in the fourth quarter, Blair and Einstein were tied at 34-34. As the clock counted down, Einstein scored a three-pointer and brought the score to 38-36 in the final minute of the game.


Blazers outlast Rockets in late-game showdown

After a disappointing start to the season, the Blazers (1-3) capitalized on a poor showing by Richard Montgomery (0-4) to secure their first win, and home opener of the season.


Warriors defeat reeling Blazers 57-48

The Blazers (1-9) fell to a Sherwood (4-2) team that was able to overcome a first quarter deficit by capitalizing on Blair's sloppy play and bad decisions. With mistakes that were similar to those in their last home game, the Blazers missed crucial fourth quarter foul shots and experienced a lack of control at the end of the game that contributed to their nine-point loss.


Blazers drop third straight in home loss

Coming off two home losses, the boys' varsity basketball team (0-3) stepped up their game to compete with the Paint Branch Panthers (2-1). But after playing well throughout the first three quarters, the Blazers were unable to maintain the intensity in the fourth quarter and fell to the Panthers 46-52.


Boys' basketball can't defuse Rockets

Blair's varsity boys' basketball team was unable to overcome an 11-point first-half hole in the opening round of the playoffs Friday night, succumbing to a sharpshooting Richard Montgomery squad, 62-56. The Rockets' perimeter game was exemplified in ending each of the first three quarters with buzzer beaters combining for seven points, more than the final difference.


Boys' basketball tramples the Trojans on senior night

Thursday night's game provided some moments of redemption after a long and dissatisfying season for Blair's varsity boys' basketball team (7-14). Coming off of the momentum of their close overtime win over Walter Johnson on Tuesday, the Blazers rallied to defeat the visiting Gaithersburg Trojans (10-11) in a powerful 48-37 performance on their senior night. The two victories make up Blair's first string of consecutive wins since beginning the season 3-0.


Panthers outpace boys' basketball

Blair varsity boys' basketball team (5-13) fell short to Paint Branch (16-3) on Tuesday night, 56-43. Although shaky through the first half, the Blazers kept up in the second half and mounted a fourth quarter rally which brought them within seven points of the division champion Panthers.


Rockets blast boys' varsity basketball, 53-27

There's something to be said about the fact that on Wednesday night, Blair ended their game with more turnovers than points scored. Blair (5-13) fell to the Richard Montgomery Rockets (10-7) in yet another frustrating display of disarray on the court, with the final scoreboard reading 53-27. Despite Blair's variety of talented players, the Blazers continue to struggle with unity, grabbing rebounds and accuracy of shots.


Boys' basketball fails to break Warriors' defense

It was in no sense an offensive showdown Tuesday night, as the visiting Sherwood Warriors and Blair's varsity boys' basketball team combined for just 65 points, barely topping the Blazers' 63-point outing at Northwood in late December. Blair (4-7) bore the worst of the shooting troubles however, and the Warriors (4-6) grabbed their third straight road win of the season in a sloppy 41-24 triumph.
