Name: Irene Liu
Position: Page Editor
Graduation Year: 2002
Irene Liu, along with her trusty buddies Jen and Nick, returns to the Chips staff this year as an Executive Business Director. She credits her vastly improved communication abilities to the incredible job she held over the summer as an intern at the Smithsonian's Freer and Sackler Galleries of Art. Working in the Department of Public Affairs and Marketing led her to realize that she, too, could talk to strangers without choking on the phone. As a senior, Irene is now looking ahead to college and considers Oberlin and UMCP as her top choices. She really really wants to study music and chemistry and probably talks in her sleep about double-degreeing. Aside from pursuing her post-secondary education, Irene is still involved in theater, Chinese Club, Silver Quill, tutoring, and of course piano. She's also proud to add that she just passed another test in karate, so her goal of getting a black belt by graduation might very well be realized. Her other life ambitions include birdwatching and stargazing until she can't move her neck, meeting the DJs of WGMS, and one day owning the movie and soundtrack to "Shine."
