Tyler Hansbrough and the Tarheels will seek to set the pace, but other strong squads, like perennial powerhouse Duke and a completely intact starting lineup at Wake Forest, promise to make the season interesting.

A member of Blair's varsity cheerleading team since she was 6, eight-year-old Taylor Forbes comes to the squad with an 18-year-old's attitude, bringing dedication, energy and poise that make her a fun and involved member of the team.
When D.C. Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee took control of the D.C. school system nearly five months ago, nobody expected her to so radically reform the district. To many Washingtonians, she was just another notch on old D.C.'s belt – another replacement for the six superintendents who have failed in the past decade.

The Verizon Center is filled with uncontrollable anticipation on Nov. 16 as fans jostle for room to sit, security guards sweat in the heat of the crowd and cameramen scurry to set up for perfect shots. The lights slowly dim and one man exuberantly takes the circular stage that is plastered with his popular "Sufi" symbol. This man automatically becomes the center of attention in the sold-out venue. He is one of extraordinary talent, multifaceted jokes and the charisma of a young and goofy child. This man can only be Dane Cook.
The Blair Booster Club hosted the fall sports awards ceremony last night in the auditorium, where Blair's 335 fall athletes were recognized for their academic accomplishments and athletic performances.
The rules are simple – one weekend, one crew and one final film production. At 7 p.m. on Friday Oct. 19, a crew of 13 Blazers and 1 student from Kennedy High School embarked on the race to create a film in 72 hours for the National Film Challenge.

The neon purple lights start to shine and the crowd begins to jump, knowing that in a matter of seconds, State Radio will fill the stage with their infectious blend of rock, punk and reggae beats. State Radio cured the crowd of their anticipation on Oct. 6 with a full-throttle performance, completing every one of their fans' fantasies.
Viridian is a classy Washington D.C. restaurant that offers a heavenly selection of brunch-themed meals. The menu features modern cuisine and specials including omelets, vanilla French toast and Belgian waffles. Although quite simple, these tasty dishes are an enjoyable treat for all.
Oh the '90s – the decade of the boy and girl band. The Backstreet Boys, N'SYNC, Hanson, 98 Degrees, the Spice Girls and LFO all had their heyday but seemingly vanished shortly after the new millennium began. Justin Timberlake and Nick Lachey left N'SYNC and 98 Degrees in the dust of their respective solo careers. Backstreet was no longer back, Hanson didn't have anywhere to go after their one hit single "MMMBop," fell off the charts and LFO went downhill after their first CD. The Spice Girls, once in a league of their own, faltered after the departure of fiery red-head Ginger. Now, seven years into the new millennium, many of these bands are attempting a comeback in the harsh music industry.
The SGA elections for the class of 2011 will be held tomorrow in the auditorium during the advisory period. Freshmen will vote on Thursday and Friday in their English classes and the outcome of the election will be announced Friday.
When two of today's greatest rap moguls have the same release date for much-hyped albums, peace can't exactly be expected in the music industry. Superstars Kanye West and 50 Cent, both of whom had new albums released on Sept. 11, are locked in a showdown of album sales. This summer, 50 Cent, whose CD "Curtis" features the hit "Ayo Technology," announced that if his album sold less than West's release "Graduate," he'd retire as a solo artist. So who will win? Let the sales decide...
Blair alumni Matt McCutchen won a gold medal by placing ninth in the gold division at the International Olympiad in Informatics competition in Zagreb, Croatia, held from Aug. 15-22.
The highly anticipated "Hairspray," an adaptation of the 2002 Broadway musical and 1988 film, lives up to its expectations on the big screen. Director Adam Shankman (Bringing Down the House) brings the Tony award-winning Broadway production to life with energetic dance numbers and remarkable performances from a slew of actors including John Travolta (Wild Hogs), Michelle Pfeiffer (Stardust) and Queen Latifah (Last Holiday). After the original two productions of "Hairspray," this latest adaptation of the film has success written all over it.
The usual noise surrounds the weight room. The football players are noisy, music is blaring and others are screaming while trying to finish their final repetitions. However, most of the noise is coming from Rob McMahon. "Don't bend your back," he says to a freshman. "Push harder," he says to one of the football players.
