A good "rule"

By Sarah Kinter | May 22, 2007, midnight | In Movies »

Just a quick disclaimer about Georgia Rule, the new "family" film from Princess Diaries director Garry Marshall: Don't see it with your family. Especially if that family happens to include children, men, Mormons or anyone who might get squeamish when Lindsay Lohan allows a shy Idaho hunk to creep his hand up her dress on fishing boat. Toto — we're not in Genovia anymore.

By Sarah Kinter | March 25, 2007, midnight | In ‎Latest »

Sarah Kinter says NO: MCPS should follow Jericho precedent Superintendent Jerry Weast clearly did not want Blair's graduation to be held in a church, so much that he was willing to foot the $125,000 bill for all MCPS high school graduation ceremonies. But his rationale for the bold move is hardly as clear.

Prom relocated to Hilton

By Sarah Kinter | March 25, 2007, midnight | In ‎Latest »

This year's Prom will be held May 26 at the Hilton Silver Spring instead of at the Hyatt Regency in Bethesda. The switch was made both because of financial constraints and as an effort to support the Silver Spring community, said Senior Class President Anjana Mohanty. Because last year's Prom at the Hyatt Regency ran $7,000 over budget, this year's senior class, which must fund Prom without the school's help, could not afford another event there, Mohanty said.

"Flushed Away" is flush full of fun

By Sarah Kinter | Nov. 10, 2006, midnight | In Movies »

The charm of "Flushed Away," a new and brilliant animated film about English sewer rats, is in the details. Blink and you'll miss the Kafka-reading cockroach, the British Nemo knock-off ("'Ave you seen me dad?"), the eggbeater speedboats and the doomsayer rat wearing not a sandwich board, but an actual sandwich.

By Sarah Kinter | Sept. 19, 2006, midnight | In Movies »

There is an old saying that "women remember the first kiss; men remember the last." While this may be true, "The Last Kiss" will certainly be remembered by both men and women as the first good relationship movie in a long time.
