African American students are invited to speak out
The Souls Group, Inc. a literary and artistic development firm, is seeking essays from African American teens dealing with abstinence, sex and AIDS. The essays will be compiled from Montgomery County teens for an anthology, which will be published in the summer of 2004.
The anthology is a project funded by a grant from the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services and the People's Community Baptist Church to address the issue of HIV/AIDS in the black community and bring attention to the African American Health Program.
African American teens can submit up to three original works in any form but all must be accompanied by a signed parental release for those under 18. Entries should also include all contact information. Selected contributors will receive a complimentary copy of the anthology as well as discounts on supplementary copies.
