Blazers can vote for team's Friday game to be featured on Fox 5

Update: The Blair-Wootton matchup finished in first place with 36.6 percent of the final vote. Highlights from the game will be shown on Fox 5 at 10 p.m. Friday

The varsity boys' basketball team has been nominated for Fox 5's High School Game of the Week, according to Rich Dunne, sports producer for Fox 5 in Washington, D.C. The boys' 7 p.m. game at Wootton High School this Friday is one of five area high school games that are featured on the Fox 5 web site.

Students can vote for their desired game here. Voting ends at noon Thursday, and highlights of the selected game will air on Fox 5 sports the following day at 10 p.m.

The games are nominated on loose criteria. "There's nothing scientific about it," Dunne said. "I check schedules across the region and try to pick games that look exciting."

Additional highlights, including peaks of the game, and shots of the crowd, bands and cheerleaders, will be posted here.

Senior and varsity boys' basketball captain Milton Colquehoun is excited about the opportunity. "It's a great chance to show everybody what kind of team we have," Colquehoun said. "I just hope we get enough votes to be featured."

As of Wednesday evening, the Blair-Wootton matchup led with 36.6 percent of the vote, with an 11.1 percent lead over the next closest matchup, TC Williams vs. Edison.
