Facilities should reopen within a week

Two of the six boys' bathrooms have been closed since Friday, Sept. 24 due to leaking toilets, according to Building Service Manager Quentin Middleton. Repairs may take up to a week.

The toilets in the boys' bathrooms in the 160s and 250s hallways had been clogged by a variety of materials, according to Middleton. "The boys keep stopping up the urinals – toilet paper, their homework, anything. There's a flood all over the floor," he said.

Building service staff tried to plunge the toilets but was unsuccessful, according to Middleton.

The issue is complicated by a lack of available plumbers for the Blair region, which consists of 5 high schools. "There is only one plumber for our area of the county. We're still waiting," he said.

The location of the closed facilities is particularly unfortunate, according to Middleton. "It wouldn't seem so bad if they were on opposite ends, but the bathrooms are right on top of each other," he said.

The boys' bathroom in the 160s hall has had an ongoing problem of pipes leaking in the wall, said Middeton. "Staff is working on it, and it'll be taken of."
