Ten Disney songs that describe Blazers

The end of the quarter is fast approaching, especially with all of those snow days, leaving Blazers scrambling for last minute grade changes to slip in before the quarter deadline closes. There are all kinds of trials and tribulations, all kinds of obstacles to face, to achieve success in a world that seems to want them to fail - sound familiar? It should, because a lot of our own childhood heroes have had to face similar situations. But their adventures are more musical.

So, because unfortunately most Blazers aren't the stars of their very own Disney musicals, here are ten Disney songs that you can use to represent your life in this stressful time.

A Spoonful of Sugar (Mary Poppins): Studying is hard work, but it must be done. And for every job that must be done, there is an element of fun - if you find the fun, then your task will go by a lot faster. Okay, maybe not fun necessarily, but figure out a way to make your homework stop being a horrible task of no return. Some Blazers have a few 'fun' studying strategies, like eating a Gummy bear after finishing each paragraph of a textbook reading or making up songs to help remember math formulas.

Bring Honor to Us All (Mulan): Parents can be demanding. Maybe they mean well, but sometimes their expectations are as unrealistic and stifling as Mulan's family. That being said, you don't want to disappoint them. Just remember to try your best and to be yourself, because like Mulan, you could have other extensive talents hidden just beneath the surface. And try not to set any of your teachers on fire by accident with good luck crickets.

I Wanna Be Like You (The Jungle Book): No one knows how those people exist, but sometimes there's one smart person who's gliding easily through the really hard class that you're struggling with, and you want to be like them! But instead of kidnapping them and making them tell you all the secrets of Chemistry, maybe you should just go in for academic support.

When Will My Life Begin (Tangled): Obviously, most people aren't getting up at seven in the morning and accomplishing a whole lifetime of hobbies. But when you get home from school, it can seem like you're juggling a thousand things at once. When you rattle off your to-do list, it can sound as exhaustingly extensive as Rapunzel's to-do list every morning, complete with the five books to read and projects to complete. You just keep wondering and wondering and wondering and wondering when will your old life begin (again)?

I'll Make a Man Out of You (Mulan): Learning everything before the unit ends can seem like training for a war. Maybe you aren't climbing posts, shooting arrows or wading through streams, but it's just as hard, because you don't know what you're doing. And worse, your teacher knows what you don't know. Time is racing towards you until the test arrives, but if you heed their every order, you might survive. Nothing's better than when you finally scale that pole and pass the test, but you have to learn as swiftly as the coursing river, study with all the force of a great typhoon and with all the strength of a raging fire and to solve that problem that was as mysterious as the dark side of the moon.

I Just Can't Wait to Be King (The Lion King): If you're a senior, no doubt senoiritis has kicked in by now (if not ages ago). You can't wait to get out of school, out of your house and off to college, where you can be king of your own life, so why should you be bothered about those rules you've had to live with since forever? Independence is close at hand, but not yet! So be sure not to get too wildly out of wing, for now, anyway.

Go the Distance (Hercules): Especially with all those extra snow days eliminating the quizzes and formative grades that could have bumped those borderline grades up, Blazers find themselves gearing up to go the distance to grasp that A or B dangling in front of them. It feels like you don't belong with that grade. But you will find your way, if you can be strong. Just remember that every mile will be worth your while when you go the distance and have your grade right where it belongs!

Poor Unfortunate Souls (The Little Mermaid): Sometimes, though, that grade is out of your reach. You know - that moment when your teacher announces that they don't bump up grades, but that they'll take pity on you poor unfortunate souls, so you're going to have a zillion point formative to boost your grade that you haven't studied for. Although this could help your soul, it still feels like you're making a deal with a gloating Ursula. Should you complete that risky optional assignment, or not? Life's full of tough choices, isn't it. But you'll have your looks, your pretty face...right?

When You Wish Upon a Star (Pinocchio): After lots of hard work and some begging that you're not very proud of, there's only one option left: wishing and praying to a higher power that it will all work out. If your heart is in your dream, no request is too extreme, if you wish upon a star as dreamers do. That's the idea, at least.

Let it Go (Frozen): Finally, those grades are going to come in. And you're going to have to show your parents sometime. You just have to let it go, because you can't hold it back anymore. You try to conceal it and put on a show, but now they know...so you just tell yourself to let it go. You did the best you could. Maybe you should be proud of your efforts, even if the perfect straight-A student is gone. The past is in the past. Anyway, there's always next quarter!
