Blair performers featured in community event

Takoma Park Middle School (TPMS) will be hosting the third annual International Night on Friday, April 23 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The evening will feature InToneNation, Blair's a cappella group, and Blair's Urban Dance Movement.

The evening, which PTA treasurer Nancy Newton calls a "school-community building event," will feature performances by the TPMS Jazz Ensemble, TPMS Step Team, the Quetzales Mexican Dance Ensemble and the Coyaba Dance Theatre.

International Night began three years ago with the intent of showcasing TPMS's diverse student body. "The idea came along because Takoma Park is so multi-cultural and multi-talented," said Newton, who co-organized the event last year and helped again this year.

With the exemption of food, drinks, dessert, popcorn and some activities, the event is free. Newton says that the event is not a fundraiser and they only charge money to "cover costs."
