The 49ers and Chiefs are set to battle it out for the coveted Lombardi trophy

Former MVP Patrick Mahomes and the blazing hot Chiefs are all set to square off off against the run heavy offense and lockdown defense of the 49ers. We are going to see an unstoppable offense versus a lockdown defense, and someone has to win.

If the Chiefs win, Patrick Mahomes will become the youngest player to win both a Super Bowl and an MVP. If the 49ers win, it will be the franchise's sixth Super Bowl win and Jimmy Garoppolo's third Super Bowl win, but his first as a starter.

There are plenty of storylines to follow in this matchup that make this game even more exciting. Richard Sherman, 49ers cornerback and future Hall of Famer, is coming off of a torn Achilles and has played a huge role in the 49ers Super Bowl run. 49ers rookie defensive end Nick Bosa has had an amazing rookie season and could add to the Bosa legacy with a ring. Then of course, we have the Chiefs trying to establish a dynasty after putting together two great seasons in a row.

This Super Bowl is a matchup of the best defense versus the best quarterback, and in this case I'm going to have to pick the Chiefs with Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs have a more experienced team, and a more consistent offense which will be able to best the 49ers defense in this one. All the Chiefs need to do is slow down the run. They showed that they can do just that in the AFC championship against Derrick Henry. This means that the 49ers will be forced to lean on Garoppolo for their offense, and he hasn't shown that he is an elite quarterback this season.

If the 49ers want to win this game, Nick Bosa will have to get to Mahomes, they will have to limit big plays from Tyreek Hill, and Richard Sherman will have to show that he can still play defense in a one on one situation. On the offensive end the 49ers will have to get the run game going early, and then establish the passing game giving them a lot of options for the rest of the game.

If the Chiefs keep the 49ers offense one dimensional, and Mahomes does his thing then they will most definitely win. I expect the Chiefs to win in a close one with a score of 31-24.
