Two more days to be added to school year

The Maryland State Board of Education voted Tuesday to deny Montgomery County Public Schools' request for a waiver for school days missed due to snow in February, meaning two more days will be added to the school year.

MCPS wanted to be exempted from making up two of the missed school days. Instead, two school days will be added to the 2002-2003 school year: April 21 (Easter Monday) and June 20. These two days are in addition to the two previously added to the school year: March 19 (the cancelled Professional Day last Wednesday) and June 19.

The week of Spring Break, April 14-18, is unaffected by this decision.

More information to come.
