Sophomore Sonika Ram died of leukemia on Wednesday March 13. According to her friends, she was a beautiful person.

Sophomore Duyen Le, one of the girls who helped put the commemorative poster on the wall, said that Sonika was a "sweet person" and was "always there for her friends."

Sonika's friends all agreed that she was devoted to her religion. "She talked about God and was a very spiritual person," said sophomore Irene Le. Le also talked about how Sonika devoted her time in the summer to working at an orphanage in Mexico. Le said that the orphanage is being named after her. "She was like an angel on Earth," she said.

Sophomore Brittany Ruffin agreed with Le. "[Sonika] touched everyone's hearts," she said.

According to Ruffin, Sonika was a very generous person. "If you borrowed money from her and tried to pay her back, she wouldn't let you," Ruffin said.

Sonika's dad spoke at the funeral. Sonika and her father had a "great relationship," said sophomore Diane Mba. She used to talk with her dad over coffee about school every morning.

Duyen Le said that she and Ashley Moore and a couple of Sonika's other friends wrote everything Sonika liked on the poster; "family, friends, the world around her, Kobe Bryant, school, love, fries, cooking, God, and Starbucks coffee."
