A new winter storm has started to affect the Washington area and students were released early on Wednesday. The storm will continue to pound our area through Friday. Up to a 10 inches of snow is possible. Here is what Silver Chips Online is currently predicting.

Thursday night

* Chance of snow: nearly 100%

* Low: around 28

* Predicted total accumulations by daybreak friday: 3-6 inches

Friday

* Chance of snow: 90%

* High: 30

* Predicted total snowfall by Friday afternoon, when snow ends: 4 to 8 inches

The Silver Chips Online weather team predicts: 70% chance of cancellation on Friday. The keys to this storm are how far it tracks to the east. If it tracks closer to the coast, more snow will be sucked in off the Atlantic. However, if it takes out to sea, we would end up getting less precipitation. If we do have school however, this meteorologist will resign his position.

snoWatch discussion: What do you think is the best way for the County to resolve the issue of too many snow days?
