SGA to hold spirit contest each day
SGA Chief of Staff Eric Hysen announced today that yesterday's snow day has forced the organization to re-schedule Spirit Week.
Heritage Day, which was originally scheduled for Monday, Feb. 13, was canceled due to the school closure. The event has been moved to Thursday, Feb. 16. Students are still asked to dress in a manner representative of their culture. Thursday will also feature the "Mix it Up" event during both lunch periods.
To accommodate the change, Wednesday will be both Superhero Day and Hat Day. Students are asked to dress as a superhero and wear their favorite hat. "We're excited to combine these days to allow more students to participate," said Hysen. "Hopefully, we'll see some really creative outfits."
To celebrate Spirit Week, the SGA will hold a contest to find the best-dressed male and female student each day. Students interested in participating are asked to stop by the SGA office during their lunch period to sign up and be photographed. Winners will appear at the pep rally and will receive a pair of movie tickets to The Majestic in Silver Spring, according to Hysen. They will also be given other small prizes, including sashes and candy.
