Smithsonian exhibit honors Brown v. Board anniversary

New display opening this weekend


The Smithsonian National Museum of American History will be opening its year-long "Separate is Not Equal" exhibit to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Brown vs. Board of Education court ruling with a celebration on May 15 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The exhibit will contain thousands of artifacts, graphics, photographs and video presentations dedicated to the landmark decision. Personal narratives and information on civil-rights icons will also be presented.

The celebration will take place on the first floor of the Taylor Gallery and will include event-related music, guided tours and films.
