Six Blair sophomores will be heading to the University of Tennessee to take part in the Global Finals of the 2004 Destination Imagination Creative Problem-Solving Competition for the second straight year.

Lynn Abe, Abby Goldman, Jordy Goldstein, Sarah Janesko, Sally Lanar and Tess Minnick will compete in the "Destinations in Time" category on May 26-29 in the Global Finals, where the team placed 14th last year. They placed first in the state finals at Towson University on April 17.

The "Destinations in Time" competition challenges teams to construct a timing device that will signal three pre-determined tasks according to a team-provided schedule. This schedule will plan out an eight-minute skit that is to include "a story with an international theme that focuses on time," integrating an improvisational element and three creations that show off the team's "skills, interests, areas of interest and talents," according to the Destination Imagination online site (http://www.destinationimagination.org).

The team, having rebuilt their timing device and pulley system after placing second in the county contest, will perform a skit about an artist seeking inspiration and a pirate who accidentally does good deeds in order to fulfill the required presentation portion of the competition.
