Anti-globalization and women's rights marches planned in D.C.
SGR members are participating in a rally against the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Saturday, April 24 and in the March for Women's Lives on Sunday, April 25.
Blair students will join others in D.C. to rally in protest of the World Bank and IMF's 60th birthdays. The rally will begin at 12:00 p.m. at Franklin Square at the intersection of 14th and K Street. A march to the World Bank will leave the square at 1:00 p.m. and return afterwards for a festival. The closest Metro stop to Franklin Square is McPherson Square. The March for Women's Lives will be held the following day in support of a woman's right to reproductive freedom of choice, equal health care, family planning and more. SGR will meet by 10:00 p.m. at the Takoma Metro platform to head downtown. The assembly for the rally will begin at 10:00 a.m. on the Mall between 3rd and 14th Streets near the Smithsonian museums. The march will begin at 12:00 p.m., and afterwards, a rally is planned from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on the National Mall. Special seating is available for those with disabilities, and the rally will be interpreted in American Sign Language. For more information, click here.
