SGA votes on club constitutions

The SGA called a Senate meeting during sixth period on December 12 concerning votes on club constitutions, pizza sales, and Senate committees.

The approved clubs include the Contemporary Film Studies Club, Bowling Club, Korean Students Society, and Sign Language Club.

The Responsible Individuals of Tomorrow (RIT) constitution was questioned because of its wording "to create positive change [in] our lives and society as individuals using a variety of tactics." Some Senate meetings felt this wording was unclear and proposed to have RIT revise their Constitutions to verify the meaning of "tactics."

Senior Class President Jessica Favin explained to students the purpose of the Senate meeting to the students. "About 12 years ago, the SGA at Blair was known as the best in the county and we are trying to get back to that by hearing your voice and what you have to say," said Favin.

After voting on clubs, Treasurer Elena Chung discussed pizza sales, which are booked until April. Then the Senators broke up into Committees, which consisted of advocacy, fundraising, social service, spirit, publicity, and citizenship. Within the committees, Senators discussed how to improve Blair.

Throughout the meeting, the SGA promoted the new SGA website several times.

One suggestion of the social committee was to create murals around the school that would "personalize" Blair. Suggestions in the spirit committee were promoting basketball games and creating more spirit weeks.

The next Senate meeting will be held next month. The exact date will be announced on the SGA website.
