Event scheduled for March 29
The SGA will sponsor a blood drive for Blair students on Monday, March 29 in the small gym from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
To participate, students must be at least 17, be in good health in the past three days, have no symptoms of illness (colds), be at least 110 pounds, have a blood pressure of 180/110 or less, have a photo ID and have waited at least 56 days after a whole blood donation or 14 days after a platelet donation.
Students must wait 24 hours after their last dose of antibiotic therapy and wait to see if symptoms of asthma show. If a student has AIDS, hepatitis or auto-immune diseases including leukemia and multiple myeloma, they will not be allowed to give a donation. To find out more information, call 703-208-7000.
The SGA asks donors to drink extra fluids and eat before their donation. After the process, T-shirts will be given to all donors.
According to senior class recording secretary Martha Gould, Blair traditionally has seen a "good turnout" for the blood drives. The SGA hopes that this year many people will once again participate because their support is greatly needed. "Hopefully we will be getting a lot of donors because this is not a holiday season. I know the blood drives need all the support they can get," said SGA president Denise Sylla. "I hope Blair will be able to accommodate them."
