Senior Elliott Wolf was awarded one of ten $4,000 Youth Activist Scholarships on April 26 by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) to honor his work on racial profiling in the Maryland State Police Department.
Wolf created a statistical method to analyze data about racial profiling by the police. Plaintiffs in court cases claiming discrimination by the police could use this method to make their evidence more credible.
Wolf had previously entered his work in the Intel Science Talent Search and earned semifinalist recognition.
The scholarship was created in 2000 in an effort to recognize high-school seniors nationwide who work to protect civil liberties through student activism.
