Trip provides students with an alternative to Beach Week
The second senior class trip will take place at Kings Dominion on June 5. The trip will occur after seniors complete their exams and will provide students with an alternative to beach week.
This is Blair's first year-end trip, according to Smith. After the first event last September, seniors revealed through student surveys that they wanted another. According to Smith, the ideal turnout for the trip is 300 students. The minimum number of students required to attend is 100, or the trip will be canceled.
The Kings Dominion trip lasts all day and costs $75 with an all-you-can-eat buffet lunch included. Smith expects some students will have to choose between paying for the Kings Dominion trip and prom. She believes the all-day pass to an amusement park and included meal will make the trip worth the cost. "We wanted to make the biggest bang for their buck, and it includes gas, parking and an all-you-can-eat lunch," Smith said.
Although Smith would have preferred the trip to take place while seniors are still in class so they would be more likely to attend, scheduling during the busy last two months of instruction was unrealistic. "We couldn't do April or May, so the only possible day was in June," she said.
