Delay due to new drop-off plan on University side

Parking permits for second semester will be distributed beginning today. The list of students who have been granted permits will be posted after school outside the financial office.

According to business manager James Funk, distribution of the permits was delayed, as a new drop-off plan on the University side of the school is being considered. Currently, parents are not allowed in the student parking lot, but this rule is largely ignored. The goal of the new plan is to provide a safer area for student drop-off in the mornings. "We don't want to encourage people to drop kids off in the street," Funk said.

The location of the new drop-off area has not been finalized yet, although the list of parking permits will be posted today. Funk hopes the plan can be implemented as soon as possible, estimating that it will not take more than a few weeks. The time is needed because Blair must coordinate their plans with the MCPS transportation department.

From over 200 applications submitted, 140 spots were distributed to students based on need. Students must pay for their parking permits by Friday, Mar. 2.
