The best additions to any meal


Sometimes even the best meal can be ruined by a few unappealing side dishes; fruit cake is a serial meal spoiler. Luckily, SCO has taken the time to compile some side dishes that will have everyone asking for more this winter.

Macaroni and Cheese

Prep Time is about 25 minutes. Cook time is about 45 minutes. Makes about 8 servings

Kitchenware:
- Large bowl
- 2-quart baking dish
- Sauce pan
- Strainer
- Measuring cups
- Spatula

Ingredients:
- 2 cups Macaroni pasta — uncooked
- 2 cups milk
- 2 Extra large eggs
- 3/4 pound of grated sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons butter

Preparation:
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Boil water. Add macaroni and cook until almost done.
3. Grease a two-quart baking dish with one tablespoon butter.
4. In the baking dish beat the eggs and milk until well combined. Add the alt and all but 12 cup of cheese.
5.Drain the macaroni and stir it in to milk mixture. Stir. Spread the remaining cheese on top.
6. Bake for 45 minutes until bubbly and lightly browned.
7. Allow to set for five minutes before serving.
8. Enjoy!

Ambrosia Salad

Prep Time is about 5 minutes. Cook time is about 15 minutes. Makes about 12 servings

Kitchenware:
- Large bowl
- Spoon
- Measuring cups
- Spatula

Ingredients:
- 2 cans drained pineapple chunks
- 2 cans drained mandarin oranges
- 2 jars drained maraschino cherries
- 1 can coconut flakes
- 1/2 bag mini marshmallows
- 4 oz. sour cream
- 16 oz. Cool Whip

Preparation:
1. In a large bowl combine the sour cream and Cool Whip.
2. Slowly fold in the other ingredients.
3. Cover and let cool for two hours before serving.
4. Enjoy!

Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Prep Time is about 5 minutes. Cook time is about 15 minutes. Makes about 12 servings

Kitchenware:
- Large bowl
- Spoon
- Measuring cups
- Saucepan
- Knife
- Cutting board
- Electric Mixer
- Peeler
- Spatula

Ingredients:
- 3 lbs. potatoes (7 medium sized potatoes)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 teaspoon fresh garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper

Preparation:
1. Peel potatoes and cut into 1/2 inch cubes.
2. Boil potatoes in salted water until soft. Drain.
3. Mash potatoes and slowly whip with electric mixer until smooth.
4. In a saucepan warm cream and butter. Mix into potatoes for two minutes.
5. Add garlic, salt and pepper and mix for one minute.
6. Serve warm and enjoy!
