Junior-senior girls' football game to take place next week

The Powder Puff game has been postponed until Oct. 19, making this year the third consecutive year organizers have failed to hold the annual girls' football game before homecoming.

Traditionally, as a part of spirit week, before the pep rally and homecoming game, senior girls take on junior girls in a game of flag football, while the boys lead cheers to promote class and school pride. The 2003 Powder Puff game was canceled because of the sniper attacks, and last year's powder puff game was rained out and then postponed indefinitely, according to senior organizer Chauna Lawson.

Powder Puff was originally scheduled to take place on Oct. 5; however, the event was rescheduled due to lack of organization, said Lawson. "The class of 2006 hadn't really organized teams or players," explained Lawson, "so we thought we would give them more time to get themselves together."

The game will be held on Oct. 19 at approximately 4:00 p.m. on the stadium field. For more information on practices and schedules, contact seniors Chauna Lawson, Patrice Furlow or Lisa Howe.
