Blair Players to perform for NIH's Giggles Children's Theatre
The Blair Players, whose musical "Pirates of Penzance" closed last weekend, will be performing for children in hospice care with the Children's Inn at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda.
According to sponsor Kelly O'Connor, songs from the musical – which sold out on closing night – will be performed at the show.
The Children's Inn developed the Giggles Children's Theater this year to "provide seriously ill children with a creative, artistic diversion," according to the press release. Claudia Arrecis, one of the program coordinators, said that the shows will be held in one of the recreation rooms at the Inn.
O'Connor said that the Blair Players "were the first ones to be asked [to perform]," a request she calls an "honor." As of yet, the date for the performance has not been decided.
Taking the show on the road will present some difficulties, O'Connor said. The Blazers will not be able take the set – which O'Connor says is the best she can remember. Additionally, the whole cast will not be able to fit into the theater, but those who do attend will perform short excerpts from the show.
