February is a time for romance and good tunes and the second month of the year welcomed a bloom of unique voices and melodies. During these past weeks, we surveyed Blazers' music docks and asked for their current track picks. We found cool collaborative singles and standout songs. "Put It In a Love Song" - Alicia Keys feat. Beyonce
Two fierce Grammy Award-winning divas collaborate for this love-inspired single. This high-tempo pop song has a hardcore drumbeat and both powerhouse vocalists know how to work it and ride the notes. The track will be an unstoppable radio hit, just like "Single Ladies." Although we know Keys and Knowles can turn up some emotional ballads, this is a nice deviation from their typical styles. Both of these women are industry heavy weights and hit the right note on this track. Keep an eye out for their music video release.
"Rude Boy" - Rihanna
During the Super Bowl Pre-Smash Party, Rihanna closed with a performance of this catchy, upbeat pop song in which she sings about an irresistible boy. The pop singer edges on electronic in this jam, which also features a heavy keyboard sound. Overall, Rihanna creates a nice blend between pop and R&B and the repetitive lyrics and instrumentals create a song that is instantly likeable.
"Fever" – Cascada
Cascada is back again with a pop jingle merged with techno that makes the song a hot dance number. The vibrations of Cascada's voice enhance the lyrics about an unavoidable fever she catches from a certain individual. Similar to Cascada's original number, "Everytime We Touch," "Fever" boasts cheesy (yet addicting) lyrics as well as great beats. Cascada is a female artist to look out for; she's re-energizing electro-pop and making it her signature.
"They Say" – Chris Brown
In this newest single from Chris Brown, the R&B singer showcases his vocals with a techno vibe that turns into a hypnotic production about the naysayers towards his relationship choices. This beat is definitely a dance hit, almost a blend of "Forever" and "I Can Transform Ya." The back-up vocals include a digital ladylike sound, giving this record a unique element.
"Even Angels" – Fantasia Barrino
Recently performing this song on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," American Idol alum Fantasia Barrino is back with the same endearing R&B sound that made her famous. This emotionally-uplifting song is about the struggles she overcomes as an independent woman. The soulful and inspiring vocals make "Even Angels" an anthem. Barrino is making a comeback, one in which her sound is as sultry as ever.
"We Are The World 25- Haiti" – Various Artists
In response to the overwhelming global effort to support Haiti, many A-list stars joined together to remake the classic song written by the late Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie. The original song was written 25 years ago and became a worldwide wonder, raking in millions of dollars for aid to Africa. Those featured on the remake include Jennifer Hudson, Wyclef Jean, Celine Dion, Miley Cyrus, Usher, Lil'Wayne and Janet Jackson. All the proceeds go directly to Haiti relief. The official video was released during the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver. As a bonus, newcomer Justin Bieber sings the first line of the song.
