Nine more schools contaminated with lead

Twinbrook Elementary School reports highest lead levels


Nine more MCPS schools reported excessive lead levels on May 20. Of the 23 schools tested so far, all have had several water outlets that surpassed the 20 parts per billion (ppb) limit set by the EPA.

Of the nine schools, Twinbrook Elementary School reached the highest levels of lead with 1866 ppb. Twinbook Elementary also had 119 contaminated fountains, the most of the latest results.

Additional schools that reported overly high lead levels include East Silver Spring Elementary School, Garrett Park Elementary School, Glen Haven Elementary School, Montgomery Knolls Elementary School, New Hampshire Estates Elementary School, Poolesville Elementary School, Summit Hall Elementary and Washington Grove Elementary School.
