Monday shelter-in-place at Blair after email threat

At 1:29 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 16, Blair principal Renay Johnson transitioned the school into a shelter-in-place due to an email bomb threat. Police were immediately informed and all students were dismissed at 2:24 p.m. Students with a ninth period were directed to the stadium and then later shuttled to Eastern Middle School. All afterschool activities were canceled and the girls’ volleyball game was rescheduled to a later date.

This situation came only four days after Blair students were evacuated from the building after a suspected bomb threat on Friday, Oct. 13.

Montgomery County Police confirmed that the threat was not valid at 3:58 p.m. Johnson sent a letter home to parents confirming the bomb threat and reiterating Blair’s commitment to student safety. “I want to assure you that the safety and well-being of our students and staff is my top priority, and I took immediate action to ensure everyone's safety,” Johnson said in the letter.
