MCPS and Blair have released their plans for virtual learning on inclement weather days

On Feb. 1, the MCPS Board of Education approved the county's Inclement Weather Virtual Learning Plan, which would allow virtual instruction days to count toward the minimum 180 instructional days required under Maryland law. 

Blair principal Renay Johnson sent out an email regarding the county's plans. "MCPS will consider transitioning to synchronous virtual learning when school buildings are closed due to inclement weather. These are days when the district would otherwise determine that a system closure without instruction would be needed for safety reasons," Johnson wrote.

Following the county's decision, Johnson announced the MBHS Inclement Weather Plan to the Blair community on Friday. On a virtual school day, Blair will follow its typical A or B day two-hour delay schedule. Teachers will provide live instruction through Zoom, and Zoom links will be posted on the teacher's Canvas page. Assignments will be available in MyMCPS Classroom.

Students should have a properly working Chromebook, charger and reliable wifi at home. Students who need any of these things should contact their administrator as soon as possible.

School meal distribution plans will be sent to students and parents soon.

MCPS's website says they will announce plans for a virtual school day through their usual community messaging systems: their website, community emails over ConnectEd, Alert MCPS or MCPS Alerta (en español), social media, and over local news.
