Local elementary school needs volunteers for Mayfair

Pete Lafen, the PTA president of Pine Crest and Montgomery Knolls Elementary Schools, is looking for high-school volunteers for the annual Mayfair, which will take place on May 1 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Pine Crest Elementary School.

According to Lafen, volunteer coordinators "could use 25 or 30 kids easily," to run games, sell tickets and help set up and clean up at the Mayfair. Students can work for the entire four hours of the fair, or they "can come just for an hour or so," said Lafen. He added that the Mayfair is a perfect opportunity for those students who attended Montgomery Knolls or Pine Crest to give back to their community.

Lafen would also like to integrate sports clinics into the Mayfair scene. If the field behind the school is available, Lafen will need several athletic students to help organize field hockey and lacrosse games.

For more information on volunteering, please contact Pete Lafen at (301) 439-9709 or Mayfair coordinator Leslie Espino at (301) 593-8131.
