Lady laxers score first four, but fall to Wootton 7-4

APR 25, BLAZER STADIUM –
The girls' lacrosse team shot out to an early lead tonight, scoring the first four goals of the game against Wootton High School but went dry with about ten minutes remaining in the first half, surrendering seven unanswered goals to the talented Patriots. The 4-7 loss dropped the girls to 4-5 on the season.
After the first 20 minutes of the game, which were completely dominated by Blair, a completely different Wootton squad showed up. In the remaining five minutes of the half, the Patriots turned the game around and put the Blazers on their heels, peppering sophomore Blazer goalie Anna Benfield with a hail of shots, netting three.
In the second half Wootton controlled every facet of the game and held the Blazers scoreless. About 80 percent of the game was spent on Blair's end of the field. Wootton dominated the ground ball game, and kept possession with strong stick skills.
Despite having possession of the ball for most of the half, the Patriots only managed to put four more past the Blazers. Benfield was the main reason the score was not as lopsided as it should have been, once again saving many point blank shots.
The three senior co-captains, Karin Brown, Sara Hirschler and Jeanne Schoenfelder each had a goal, along with junior Jen Breads.
