Judy Bishop leaves after 15 years

Judy Bishop, the first math teacher most Magnet students have, is leaving Blair after 15 years of teaching in the Magnet program. Bishop has taught Magnet Precalculus A and B and Magnet Geometry.

Prior to joining the Blair staff, she spent time teaching math at Julius West, Thomas Pyle and Winston Churchill. Bishop dealt with all the math classes between the 7th and 12th grades. "[I taught] just about every class you could have except Calculus," says Bishop.

After 32 years of working for Montgomery County, Bishop has decided to move on to a new teaching environment. "[I want to] try something different," Bishop says about her new job. Next year, Bishop will teach at Stoneridge, an all-girls Catholic school in Bethesda. She wants the experience of teaching at a smaller school; Stoneridge has only 360 students.

Overall, she has enjoyed her experience at Blair. "I've loved it. It's going to be very difficult to leave here," admits Bishop.

She has so many fond memories that she cannot pick out any one in particular. However, Bishop believes that the people she has come across at Blair have enhanced her stay. "The students and staff at Blair have made it a wonderful experience," she says.
